Piercings are available for almost the entire body today, and they are available in all ranges of gauges, or diameters, from small to large. The gauges of piercings can make them unique in all places where they are inserted. Sometimes these are intended to be relative to cultures from around the world or just to your personal interest of the piercing that you desire. Dating so many years ago there were only the years, and now piercings can be seen in the cheek, chin, nose, and many other spots all over the body. From bars to hoops and much more, there are many different types that can be gained at tattoo and piercing shops.
Body and Ear Piercings
Little girls are usually so excited about ear piercings, sort of coming-of-age event. However, as we get older there is much more to it than that. Even more than women, there are approximately 14% of Americans who state they have other parts of the body than ears pierced. Additionally, of the women who originally had their ears pierced, about a third of them agree to have had their belly buttons pierced as well. There is even one woman, Elaine Davidson of Scotland, who now has 9,800 piercings as of 2016. Additional piercings include any of the following:
- Nose rings
- Nipple piercings
- Naval piercings
- Cartilage piercings
- Body piercings
- Daith piercings
Body piercings are available for more than women and are something that is often a cultural or another style. Many times piercings occur in line with tattoos and other body markings, some that can be consistently updated and changed, with some added and sometimes even removed.
Find the Right Tattoo Shop and Artist
When you may be looking for your first tattoo or simply another one, you will want to make sure to trust a tattoo artist. It is basically a permanent piece of body art, even though removal is often possible. So, when choosing a tattoo design there is often the need to consider the length of time it will be on your body. Considering the new ability to remove tattoos or even fully cover them up with another one, the potential for permanence is possible. While over 10% of the population has had a tattoo removed, 14% have at least one tattoo.
With so many tattoo parlors and piercers, about 21,000 in the United States, it is important to recognize the reputation of the artist before going under the needle. Whether you are getting a piercing or tattoo, there is a caution needed for the gauges of the needle for piercing or artwork as pain can be difficult. There is much to consider in the decision of a piercing or a tattoo and it is helpful to beware of potential removal or change as these methods of body art have updated over the years.
