Animal cruelty is a serious issue. There are people nationwide and even worldwide that believe in the ethical treatment of animals. PETA, which is the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has issued advertisements where celebrities appear and state their support for the ethical treatment of animals.

Other individuals get involved in this movement as well. Many people have cats and dogs. There are millions of people that have dogs as pets and more who have cats as pets. These people are likely to believe in the ethical treatment of animals, as those people take care of animals themselves.

And it is not easy taking care of those animals. Cats are less expensive to take care of than dogs, with possibly as little as a yearly trip to the veterinarian and less than a hundred per year spent on cat food. There are always toys, however, which can run into the hundreds, and then furniture like cat towers, which can get very expensive.

Cat towers, in and of themselves, can run into the hundreds of dollars.

Dogs are move expensive, as they require shots every year and even more often if they are puppies, which are defined as between the ages of one year old or less. Dogs require toys, like tennis balls. They also require leashes and collars. They also require food, which runs into the hundreds (dog food is more expensive) and bones, which can cost dozens of dollars.

On the whole, dogs are more expensive than cats, as taking care of them can cost thousands of dollars per year, especially if they are a puppy. Dogs also have a greater chance of getting injured than an indoor cat, which requires money if they injure themselves and have to be taken to the veterinarian.

Therefore, it is likely that these individuals who take care of animals have a more humane view of animals and animal treatment, which some other people might lack. Of course, it all depends. Certain cultures view cats as something to be eaten, while some cultures may look at our cow meat consumption and see that as a negative.

The people in India, for instance, love cows and are said to value them highly in religious circles, which puts them at odds with the culture in America, where many people eat cow meat on a daily basis. This is one of the differences between cultures when it comes to animals.

People will go far in the ethical treatment of animals, such as avoiding products where there has been the cruelty of animals and even products where some type of animal has been used. An example of this is the fur coat, which comes from the furs of foxes and sold to people.

People will sometimes force themselves not to buy furniture that has animal products or is associated with some kind of unethical treatment of culturally accepted animals. There are statistics about home furnishings and the home furnishings market, from millennials on up. They are:

  • In 2012, Boomers accounted for 42% of all furniture and bedding buying households. Fast forward to 2014 when Boomers, currently between ages 51 and 69, comprised 29% of all buyers.
  • Millennials? share of all buyers in 2012 was a mere 14%, but in 2014, Millennials comprised 37% of all households buying furniture and bedding, making them the largest generation buying.
  • Furniture and home furnishings stores generated about 101.41 billion U.S. dollars worth of sales in 2013.

Furniture has a place in American households. Luxury furniture is often made with less animal cruelty products and many Americans perhaps find this a good thing. There are terms associated with this. They include Italian contemporary sofa, Italian fashion, Italian living room furniture, imported furniture, luxury home brands and more.

There are others as well including luxury living room furniture, Italian style furniture, modern Italian bedroom furniture, luxury Italian sofas, luxury fashion, luxury decor, Italian fine furniture, and more. One of the ways companies try to differentiate their products from the competition is through refraining from animal cruelty.

This is the case with some Italian clothing brands. Some Italian clothing brands were not made from any animal products, including leather for the jackets, boots, and more. Italian clothing brands sometimes come from Italy. Sometimes Italian clothing brands are manufactured in other locations.
